On November 15th, ONDADURTO TEATRO will debut in the world of Opera in a production by Fondazione Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo (Italy) for an international premiere that will take place during the 5th edition of the Donizetti Opera Festival under the artistic direction of Francesco Micheli.
Every year the Festival gathers Opera professionals and Donizetti enthusiasts from all around the Globe, and this year’s edition includes “Pietro il Grande Kzar delle Russie”.
In 1819 Gaetano Donizetti’s “Pietro il Grande Kzar delle Russie” was premiered in Venice. Since then, it has almost never been staged. On the occasion of its 200th anniversary, a new production of this rare Opera Buffa will premiere internationally at the Teatro Sociale of Bergamo for the #donizetti200 project.
The mise-en-scène has been designed by ONDADURTO TEATRO, who are defined by their interdisciplinary approach to the creation of their shows, which range from nouveau cirque to physical theatre, from dance to gesture… and this production is no exception! The company, led by Marco Paciotti and Lorenzo Pasquali, has created an unconventional and alluring rendition of this 1819 Opera, marked by a combination of different disciplines, lavish costumes designed by K.B. Project and machinery.
Fondazione Teatro Donizetti and ONDADURTO TEATRO would love to invite you to the Teatro Sociale of Bergamo to celebrate one of Italy’s greatest composers on one of the following 2019 performance dates: November 15th, November 23rd or December 1st.
Here you will find the official page dedicated to “Pietro il Grande Kzar delle Russie” that would give you a taste of what we have in store for you.
