“The work of this Italian company is part of the tradition of the Commedia dell’Arte. Actions and masks have been revitalized, but traditional theatrical techniques have not been forgotten: each mask is characterized by its own posture, movement and language”
Neuner – Austria
From the masks tradition of Commedia dell’Arte, PULCINELLA VA ALLA GUERRA is a work inspired by the Canovacci of the most famous XVI century Commedia dell’Arte Companies: Compagnia dei Gelosi (the Jalouses’ company), dei Golosi (Greedis’), dei Rintronati (In a daze’).
On the stage will rise Arlecchino, Pantalone and Pulcinella; The Lovers Leandro and Angelica; Pedrolino, Capitan Spaventa and Doña Apollonia.
Audience will see as a mask put on the face of an actor take life through his body that defines, in a non-verbal language, a well-defined human-type.
The performance is punctuated with a ludicrous rate and dynamic quick: 5 actors will go to play a set of 10 roles.
Objective is to make known the importance of the typical characters of the Commedia dell’Arte, with a performance that will create dynamic features of a genre that is based on the types-fixed. The show was born a historiographical reconstruction of Canovaccio used and the characterization of the masks themselves.
One of the company’s most acclaimed shows, produced at the beginning
